Game highlights

The Newtown Jets fared well in the SG Ball Cup match on Saturday in convincingly beating the Gold Coast Titans by 40-22.

The young Jets badly needed these two competition points and rediscovered a lot of the flair and team-cohesion they had shown in the first three competition rounds.

Newtown led 24-10 at the break and always looked in control against the Queenslanders, with the Jets being best served by five-eighth Tom Dawney, second-rowers Dane Atkinson and Boyd Cordner as well as by lock Nick Ehsman.

Interchange forward Adam Brent scored two tries and really put it to the Titans pack.

In the Harold Matthews Shield fixture the Sydney Roosters Junior Rugby League kept their finals hopes alive with a 14-all draw with the Gold Coast Titans, in a game where the Roosters probably did enough to take the two competition points.

Next game

There's another Rugby League triple-header at Henson Park this coming Saturday, 28 March.

In the Harold Matthews Shield game at 12 noon the Sydney Roosters JRL are at home to Manly-Warringah while the Newtown Jets SG Ball Cup team takes on the Sea Eagles at 1.30pm.

At 3.00pm in the NSW Cup main game the Newtown Jets face off with Penrith's feeder club the Windsor Wolves, another side that has made a somewhat rocky start to the 2009 NSW Cup season.
