An old inner-city rivalry set to be renewed

The Newtown Jets play South Sydney in Round Eight of the Canterbury Cup NSW at Henson Park this Saturday, 4th May, at 3.00pm. The Rabbitohs have rejoined the NSWRL flagship competition this year, so the Jets and Souths will meet again at Henson Park for the first time since 2006.

The Newtown Jets’ return home to Henson Park this Saturday 4th May for a must win clash against fellow foundation club South Sydney Rabbitohs in the Canterbury Cup NSW (3pm kick off). It’s the first time the Bunnies have been back to Henson at this level since 2006. The game will be preceded by a Ron Massey Cup match featuring our partners Glebe Burwood (aka Glebe Dirty Reds) who take on Hills District at 12.45pm.

Again in 2019, there will be plenty of fun for the kids on the DEICORP Family Hill featuring jumping castles, face painting, pass the ball. Ice Cream Joe’s Mr Whippy & Barista will be in attendance as will JETMAN & SCU – More Generous Banking’s SYD THE PIG.

Young Henrys NEWTOWNER, Natural Lager & Cloudy Cider is also available for all the Mums, Dads and over 18s.

It’s been a slow start to the season for the Jets but rugby league is back at Henson Park this Saturday so bring your friends and family, cheer on the men all dressed in blue whilst enjoying one of the most unique sporting experiences Sydney has to offer.

On 6th October 2019 at ANZ Stadium, the Newtown Jets defeated Burleigh Bears 20-16 in the NRL State Championship Final. This win effectively made Newtown the best club team (outside of the NRL competition) in Australia, New Zealand and Papua-New Guinea.
