Updated information on the availability of Newtown Jets merchandise

Big Saulala Houma played with the Newtown Jets from 2012 to 2017 and was a member of Newtown’s 2012 NSW Cup premiership-winning team. These days Saulala is a rampaging front-rower for the Wagga Kangaroos RLFC down in Group 9 in southern NSW. Saulala features on the front cover of the updated Newtown Jets club history, Taking It To The Streets – The Second Life of the Newtown RLFC. Author of the book and Jets Director Glen “Bumper” Dwyer was in Wagga last Friday to present Saulala Houma with a copy of the book. (The book is on sale online at https://www.newtownjetsclothing.com.au/product/taking-it-to-the-street-the-second-life-of-the-newtown-rlfc/ or by calling 9052 6580). Photo: Newtown RLFC

2019 – The Year that the Newtown Jets Struck Gold Twice

On 6th October 2019 at ANZ Stadium, the Newtown Jets defeated Burleigh Bears 20-16 in the NRL State Championship Final. This win effectively made Newtown the best club team (outside of the NRL competition) in Australia, New Zealand and Papua-New Guinea. Newtown centre Jackson Ferris (with the ball) is shown sprinting away for the winning try with less than ten seconds of regular time left to play, having seized upon a pin-point short kick by his team-mate Billy Magoulias. Newtown had trailed 10-2 at half-time and 16-14 going into the last ten seconds of the match. Photo: Michael Magee Photography
