Newtown RLFC Director Karl Cope is competing in this year's City to Surf on August 10, 2008 and has established a "Hero Page" to raise money for the Humpty Dumpty Foundation.
The Humpty Dumpty Foundation, a non-profit organisation, was formed in 1996 by its founder and Chairman, Paul Francis, to purchase much needed vital medical equipment for the children of the Royal North Shore Hospital.
Since January 2004 the Humpty Dumpty Foundation grew to provide support for eleven children's hospital wards across Sydney including; Royal North Shore Hospital; Sydney Children's Hospital Randwick, The Children's Hospital at Westmead, Hornsby Hospital, Mt Druitt Hospital, Mona Val, Manly and Ryde Hospitals, St George and Sutherland Hospitals.
And now, due to overwhelming corporate and community assistance, the Foundation now supports more hospitals across metropolitan Sydney and regional NSW. The Foundation's two main fund-raising event's each year are the Humpty Dumpty Ball and the Balmoral Burn run.
Sponsor Karl in the City-to-Surf and support sick kids
So far Karl has raised over $2,000 for the Humpty Dumpty Foundation and has been in training for the event.
If you would like to support Karl in his quest to tackle Heart Break Hill and complete the City to Surf and make a contribution to the Humpty Dumpty Foundation simply visit: city2surf.everydayhero.com.au/KarlCope and follow the instructions.
Any donation, large or small, will be greatly appreciated and goes to a terrific cause - providing vital equipment for children's hospital including many close to home is incredibly important. Of course all donations over $2 are tax deductible.
As Karl says: "As parents, Emma and I have become supporters of the Humpty Dumpty Foundation and unfortunately we can talk first-hand of the incredibly-important function that the people at Humpty Dumpty provide to children's hospitals throughout NSW.
When a child becomes ill or needs medical attention there is nothing more important than providing your child with every opportunity to have their ailments treated quickly and effectively.
Sadly we live in an environment where our hospitals aren't always adequately funded, and so a cause like the Humpty Dumpty Foundation is critically important. I'd like to take this opportunity to thank everyone that has or will support me in my quest to tackle the Hill and raise money on behalf of the Humpty Dumpty Foundation."
You will also note that Karl's Hero Page has a distinctly Newtown Jets theme to it!
