Newtown Jets Gym

Setting our players up for a great season

Newtown supporters need have no fear as to the professional preparation of those Newtown-contracted players who have been in training since early November under the eagle eyes of Head Coach Greg Matterson and Strength & Conditioning Coach Nicholas Said.

These lads will be competing for places in Newtown's 2020 Canterbury Cup team against players from our partnership club the Cronulla Sharks - and will certainly not lack anything in strength, fitness, toughness and resolution.

The Newtown gymnasium is situated in a property provided for the use of the Newtown RLFC by long-time Jets supporter, Director, Life Member and sponsor Terry Rowney.

The facility is airy, well-lit and appropriately painted throughout in royal blue and white. There are ample toilet facilities, showers, chilled water bubblers plus the complex is scrupulously maintained in terms of cleanliness.

The walls are adorned with large colour photos from Newtown’s two glorious victories in the 2019 Canterbury Cup NSW Grand Final and the NRL State Championship Final.

Modern training equipment includes treadmills, exercise bikes, rowing machines plus a wide range of weights and exercise stations that are the equal of any other professional Rugby League club. There is also a general purpose training room with a large floor area of compressed rubber tiles - this is ideal for circuit work in wet weather utilising boxing, medicine ball and rope-climbing routines.

Newtown Jets respect and honour the Traditional Custodians of the Land and pay our respects to their Elders past and present. We acknowledge the stories, traditions and living cultures of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples on the lands we meet, gather and play on and that the land area encompassing Henson Park traditionally belonged to the Gadigal people of the Eora nation.
