Our Men All Dressed in Blue returned to the winners’ circle in emphatic style at Henson Park last Saturday before a bumper Beer Footy Food Festival crowd closing in on 12,000. Second placed St George Illawarra Dragons, who had won 11 of their last 12 games were no match for the mighty Jets who scored eight tries to three in their 40-16 victory.

The next test comes this Sunday against a Bulldogs side who have their bite back thanks in no small part to the inclusion of Toby Sexton at half-back. Canterbury are more than mathematically capable of playing semi-final football this season but will need to maintain their winning run. As such, there’ll be no place on field for the faint hearted, so we call out to the Bluebag faithful to get to Belmore in big numbers to help get our boys home. Your support makes a huge difference.

If you can’t make it to the game, it will be livestreamed on BarTV NSWRL so find a screen and Go the Jets!

The Newtown Jets say farewell and thank you to a superb player and popular club identity, Billy Magoulias

One of the prestige awards of the night is the Fred Daly Memorial Shield, which is awarded to the player considered to have rendered the most outstanding service to the Newtown RLFC on and off the field. This year's recipient is the Henson Park crowd favourite and powerhouse middle forward Brad "Big Red" Fearnley, flanked by the club President Barry Cotter (left) and the Australian Mutual Bank sponsorship executive and Development Manager Glen Warner (right).
