Kick for Kenny – honouring Ken Wilson
At Newtown’s home game this Saturday, 1st April, we will remember and honour the great Ken Wilson’s life and contribution to the Newtown Jets.
We want as many people as possible to get on the field at half-time and full-time to kick a football in honour of our club’s all-time leading points scorer.
Prizes will be awarded at for the “best” kicks.
Other highlights on the day include:
• Ken Wilson’s family to lead the teams onto Henson Park wearing 2023 #7 jerseys featuring Ken’s name on the sleeve
• A minute’s silence with ex-Newtown players and officials out on the ground, along with both NSW Cup teams and match officials.
• A Ken Wilson-curated music play-list throughout the afternoon.
• A Kick for Kenny competition at half-time as described above (signed Newtown Jets footballs for the winners).
• Game day raffle donation to PanKind
• Newtown players to wear PanKind’s ‘Play in Purple’ socks
• Ken Wilson t-shirts will be available at our merchandise marquees.
($10 from the sale of each t-shirt goes to PanKind, along with PanKind’s ‘Play in Purple’ socks which will also be available at our merchandise outlets on the day.)
As well as honouring Ken, Newtown’s clash with the Bulldogs shapes as a mouth watering game of footy with both teams starting the season winning three of their first four games as they currently sit atop of the KOE NSW Cup ladder.
