Last weekend our Men All Dressed in Blue retained the coveted Frank Hyde Shield with a 36-22 victory over the North Sydney Bears in front of a huge Henson Park crowd. In doing so the Jets maintained fourth spot on the ladder. This Saturday it’s the Sea Eagles turn to cross the Harbour Bridge on their way to Henson. Manly are currently eleventh in the KOE NSW Cup but with their NRL team having a bye, a danger game awaits.
A sunny winter’s afternoon is predicted so this is another call to arms to the Bluebag faithful to fill Henson and cheer on our boys as they push for wins in a row.
Outside of the on-field action, there will be plenty of fun to be had on the DEICORP Family Hill with FREE jumping castles & face painting to keep the kids entertained. Ice Cream Joe’s Mr Whippy & Barista will be in attendance, as will Mr Kernal serving hot dogs, tenders, fries and chips on a stick.
Philter’s Henson Park Draught, XPA and other tasty brews are available for all the Mums, Dads and over 18s along with Kraken & Cola and Kraken & Dry courtesy of Kraken, the exclusive dark spirits partner of the Newtown Jets.
Newtown Jets’ home game raffle is on again featuring a delicious Meat Tray from Dulwich Hill Gourmet Meats along with our famous Fruit & Veg box courtesy of Bobby and Chris Petersen, a case of Henson Park Draught care of Philter and some yummy Jets biscuits thanks to J Kreations. So, as Lynchy always says… ‘Dig deep & support the Jets!’
After the game, the Jets invite members, supporters and friends to the Golden Barley Hotel from 5.30pm to mingle with players and coaching staff and hopefully celebrate a victory. The Golden Barley Hotel is located at 165 Edgeware Road, Marrickville.
We also encourage you to take advantage of a fantastic offer from Chargrill Charlie’s on your way there. Located at 186 Victoria Road, Marrickville, pick up a flyer at the game and you’ll receive 10% off your order. Better still, if the Jets win, you’ll get 15% off… how good?! Many thanks to Chargrill Charlie’s, producers of amazing food & proud supporters of the Newtown Jets.
If you cannot make it to Henson Park this Saturday, the game is being livestreamed on BarTV NSWRL.
Please be advised that the redevelopment & upgrade of the King George V Memorial Grandstand & Comms building has progressed to stage two. As such, there is no parking inside the ground for the general public and the main canteen is no longer. Covered seating under the marquee is still available on that side of the ground and there will be a food & beverage outlet operating. Toilet facilities have been relocated adjacent to the Sydenham Road entrance next to the demountable dressing rooms.
Go the Jets!
Newtown Jets respect and honour the Traditional Custodians of the Land and pay our respects to their Elders past and present. We acknowledge the stories, traditions and living cultures of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples on the lands we meet, gather and play on and that the land area encompassing Henson Park traditionally belonged to the Gadigal people of the Eora nation.
