This Saturday is the start of a bumper month of footy at Henson Park with four home games in a row culminating in our annual Beer Footy Food Festival on Saturday July 26th.
It kicks off with a bang as we take on the North Sydney Bears in the decider of the Frank Hyde Shield. Our Men All Dressed in Blue got the job done in an epic encounter at Bear Park two weeks ago winning 24-12. But, coming off the bye, Norths have had a chance to lick their wounds and will no doubt be seeking vengeance. In turn, the Jets continued their recent reversal of form with another good victory over Souths last Sunday and head into this match with renewed confidence.
It’s always a special occasion when these two foundation clubs lock horns and no doubt Saturday will add another chapter to the rivalry. With the rain forecast to ease, seriously, where would you rather be than at Henson Park this Saturday?!
Outside of the on-field action, there will be plenty of fun to be had on the DEICORP Family Hill with FREE jumping castles & face painting to keep the kids entertained. Ice Cream Joe’s Mr Whippy & Barista will be in attendance, and we welcome aboard Mr Kernal serving hot dogs, tenders, fries and chips on a stick.
Philter’s Henson Park Draught, XPA and other tasty brews are available for all the Mums, Dads and over 18s along with Kraken & Cola and Kraken & Dry courtesy of Kraken, the exclusive dark spirits partner of the Newtown Jets.
Newtown Jets’ home game raffle is on again featuring a delicious Meat Tray from Dulwich Hill Gourmet Meats along with our famous Fruit & Veg box courtesy of Bobby and Chris Petersen, a case of Henson Park Draught care of Philter and some yummy Jets biscuits thanks to J Kreations. So, as Lynchy always says… ‘Dig deep & support the Jets!’
After the game, the Jets invite members, supporters and friends to The Vic on the Park from 5.30pm to mingle with players and coaching staff and hopefully celebrate a victory. The Vic on the Park is located at 2 Addison Road, Marrickville.
If you cannot make it to Henson Park this Saturday, the game is being livestreamed on BarTV NSWRL.
Please be advised that the redevelopment & upgrade of the King George V Memorial Grandstand & Comms building has progressed to stage two. As such, there is no parking inside the ground for the general public and the main canteen is no longer. Covered seating under the marquee is still available on that side of the ground and there will be food & beverage outlets operating. Toilet facilities have been relocated adjacent to the Sydenham Road entrance next to the demountable dressing rooms.
Go the Jets!
Newtown Jets respect and honour the Traditional Custodians of the Land and pay our respects to their Elders past and present. We acknowledge the stories, traditions and living cultures of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples on the lands we meet, gather and play on and that the land area encompassing Henson Park traditionally belonged to the Gadigal people of the Eora nation.
