Anyone who was at North Sydney Oval last Sunday will testify that our victory over the Bears was a win for the ages and one for the true believers. Down 12-10 at the break, and to twelve men, with Chris Vea’ila controversially sent off sent off late in the first half (it should be noted that the match review committee ruled Chris did not have a case to answer and he was not charged), circumstances only galvanized our Men All Dressed in Blue to turn in their most spirited performance of the season. The 24-12 victory was much needed and hopefully springboards our season back in the right direction.
Our next test comes this Sunday at picturesque Coogee Oval against a rejuvenated Souths’ team who are coming off three straight wins. This match will be a completely different proposition to our Round 3 clash where the Jets won 40-10. As such, we again call on the Bluebags faithful to turn out in numbers and cheer loudly.
The Farrell Rayner trophy is up for grabs from 3pm with Cronulla taking on the Bunnies in Jersey Flegg at 1pm.
If you can’t make it to Coogee, the game will be livestreamed on BarTV NSWRL so find a screen and Go the Jets!
Newtown Jets respect and honour the Traditional Custodians of the Land and pay our respects to their Elders past and present. We acknowledge the stories, traditions and living cultures of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples on the lands we meet, gather and play on and that the land area encompassing Henson Park traditionally belonged to the Gadigal people of the Eora nation.
