Newtown Jets are again at their spiritual home this Saturday with a point to prove after an extremely disappointing performance against Wests Magpies last Saturday. Fortunately, a late flourish of points saw us retain the Tommy Raudonikis Cup for another season but overall, apart from that, Newtown coaching staff, sponsors, members & supporters were left scratching their heads.
Our Men All Dressed in Blue have a job to repay the Bluebags faithful this Saturday and the task doesn’t get any tougher than taking on the Warriors who are flying at the top of the table, three points clear of their nearest rival. Their only defeat so far this season was at our hands in Auckland, which will hopefully give the boys some confidence.
There will be plenty of fun to be had on the DEICORP Family Hill with FREE jumping castles & face painting to keep the kids entertained. Ice Cream Joe’s Mr Whippy & Barista will be in attendance, whilst Philter’s Henson Park Draught, XPA and other tasty brews are available for all the Mums, Dads and over 18s along with Kraken & Cola and Kraken & Dry courtesy of Kraken, the exclusive dark spirits partner of the Newtown Jets in 2025.
Newtown Jets’ home game raffle is on again featuring a delicious Meat Tray from Dulwich Hill Gourmet Meats along with our famous Fruit & Veg box courtesy of Bobby and Chris Petersen, a case of Henson Park Draught care of Philter and some yummy Jets biscuits thanks to J Kreations. So, as Lynchy always says… ‘Dig deep & support the Jets!’
It’s the end of an era at Henson Park this Saturday as we say goodbye to the Comms Building that has housed our main canteen for last fifty plus seasons, not to mention been the home of the voice of Henson Park and Life Member John Lynch since our return to the ground in 2000.
After the game, the Jets invite members, supporters and friends to the Henson Park Hotel from 5.30pm to mingle with players and coaching staff and hopefully celebrate a victory. Henson Park Hotel is located at 91 Illawarra Road, Marrickville.
If you cannot make it to Henson Park this Saturday, the game is being livestreamed on BarTV NSWRL.
Please be advised that the redevelopment & upgrade of the King George V Memorial Grandstand & Comms building is in full swing. As a result, there is no parking inside the ground for the general public.
Go the Jets!
Newtown Jets respect and honour the Traditional Custodians of the Land and pay our respects to their Elders past and present. We acknowledge the stories, traditions and living cultures of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples on the lands we meet, gather and play on and that the land area encompassing Henson Park traditionally belonged to the Gadigal people of the Eora nation.
