Newtown Jets Virtual Team List v Burleigh Wed 30th September, 2020
Welcome to the final installment of Newtown Jets Virtual Season 2020.
While we haven’t been able to watch Newtown Jets games live this season we have relived past glories from years gone by. As part of Virtual Season 2020, JETS TV has broadcast classic matches featuring our opponents from the 2020 Canterbury Cup NSW draw in “Amco Cup retro-style” on Wednesday nights at 8.00pm. Our intrepid social media team has “live tweeted” the games as if they had entered a time machine so you can be part of the action.
On Wednesday, 30th September they head to ANZ Stadium to bring you the 2019 NRL State Championship between Newtown and Burleigh that was actually played on Sunday, 6th October, 2019.
On the back of their thrilling extra-time Canterbury Cup NSW Grand Final 20-15 victory over Wentworthville the week prior, Newtown Jets coach Greg Matterson was adamant pre-game that his players had their minds focused on the task of winning Sunday’s NRL State Championship for New South Wales. This was Newtown’s first shot at the title double, as the State Championship was introduced in 2014, two years after Newtown’s previous NSW Cup premiership success in 2012.
So tune in at 8.00pm, Wednesday, 30th September to JETS TV www.newtownjets.com or www.facebook.com/newtownrlfc and follow us on www.twitter.com/newtownrlfc to find out who was the best rugby league team in Australia, New Zealand and Papua-New Guinea (excluding the NRL competition) in 2019.
