Newtown Jets Virtual Team List v Combined Brisbane Sat 16th May, 2020
While we might not be able to watch Newtown Jets games live this season we can relive past glories from years gone by. As part of Virtual Season 2020 every Saturday from 3pm JETS TVwill broadcast classic encounters featuring our opponents from the 2020 Canterbury Cup NSW draw. Our intrepid social media team will “live tweet” the game as if they had entered a time machine and want you to be part of the action.
Whilst this weekend was supposed to be a weekend off for the Jets courtesy of the annual interstate challenge between NSW & QLD Residents, our Virtual Season continues along a similar theme.
At 3pm on Saturday 16th May tune in to JETS TV www.newtownjets.com and follow us on www.twitter.com/newtownrlfc as we revisit when the Jets of 1981 headed north to Queensland for a midweek Tooth Cup game and took on the might of a Combined Brisbane side that was a virtual Queensland State of Origin team and included three future immortals – Arthur Beetson, Mal Meninga and Wally Lewis along with Joe Kilroy, Brad Backer, Chris Close, Greg Oliphant, Bryan Niebling and Greg Dowling. It’s an absolute classic!
