Newtown Jets Virtual Team List v Illawarra Wed 26th August, 2020

Welcome to Round 24 of Newtown Jets Virtual Season 2020.

While we might not be able to watch Newtown Jets games live this season we can relive past glories from years gone by. As part of Virtual Season 2020, JETS TV is broadcasting classic matches featuring our opponents from the 2020 Canterbury Cup NSW draw in “Amco Cup retro-style” on Wednesday nights at 8.00pm. Our intrepid social media team will “live tweet” the game as if they had entered a time machine and want you to be part of the action.

On Wednesday, 26th August they’re back at the “Jewel in the Crown of R-R-R-R-Rugby League grounds”, Henson Park to bring you a 2012 NSW Cup clash between Newtown and Illawarra that was actually played on Saturday, 25th August, 2012.

It was Newtown’s last home game of the season and annual Reunion Day. The Jets were coming off a disappointing 34-26 loss to the Windsor Wolves which put them right back in the scramble for a place in the finals. Newtown led Windsor 22-6 at half-time and 26-10 with thirty minutes remaining but failed to add another point as they were hunted down by the Wolves leaving their finals aspirations hanging in the balance. The Reunion Day clash with the Illawarra Cutters, St George Illawarra’s official feeder club had the added attraction of being an absolute must-win proposition for both teams. This game is one not to be missed!

So tune in at 8.00pm, Wednesday, 26th August to JETS TV www.newtownjets.com or www.facebook.com/newtownrlfc  and follow us on www.twitter.com/newtownrlfc to see if miracles actually happen.
