Newtown Jets Virtual Team List v Penrith Panthers Wed 8th July, 2020
Welcome to Round 17 of Newtown Jets Virtual Season 2020.
While we might not be able to watch Newtown Jets games live this season we can relive past glories from years gone by. As part of Virtual Season 2020, JETS TV is broadcasting classic matches featuring our opponents from the 2020 Canterbury Cup NSW draw in “Amco Cup retro-style” on Wednesday nights at 8.00pm. Our intrepid social media team will “live tweet” the game as if they had entered a time machine and want you to be part of the action.
This Wednesday, 8th July they’re travelling to Leichhardt Oval to bring you a NSWRL ISP Preliminary Final between Newtown and Penrith that was actually played on Saturday, 15th September, 2018.
Penrith were Minor Premiers and the defending 2017 Premiers whilst the Jets finished in 3rd place on the competition table. Whilst going down narrowly to the Dragons in week one of the play-offs, Newtown bounced back sweeping aside Mounties 34-16 in the elimination semi-final played at Kogarah Oval the following weekend to set up a mouth watering showdown against the competition favourites from the foot of the mountains who were on a thirteen game winning streak.
So be sure to tune in at 8.00pm, Wednesday, 8th July to JETS TV www.newtownjets.com or www.facebook.com/newtownrlfc and follow us on www.twitter.com/newtownrlfc to see what unfolds.

Another way you can Keep The Jets Flying is donating to Laps With Trady. This fundraiser has been set up by a group of members and supporters and features our lovable larrikin John Trad doing laps of Henson Park on his trusty penny farthing every Saturday. Check out https://www.facebook.com/Laps-with-Trady-100545721662756/ for all the details and don’t be afraid to venture down to the ‘eighth wonder of the modern world’ from 11am to cheer Trady on.
Last Saturday, celebrating what would have been Pride and Diversity Day at Henson Park, Trady chalked up another milestone clocking up his 250th lap for the season to date. Jase Pritchard caught up with the 2 Trevs from Club Trev Podcast who were in attendance to lend their support. Watch the video
Newtown Jets respect and honour the Traditional Custodians of the Land and pay our respects to their Elders past and present. We acknowledge the stories, traditions and living cultures of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples on the lands we meet, gather and play on and that the land area encompassing Henson Park traditionally belonged to the Gadigal people of the Eora nation.
