Class wins through
The Newtown Jets SG Ball Cup remained unbeaten after seeing off Western Suburbs by 44-22 in the second-round competition match played at Henson Park on Sunday afternoon.
This was the first opportunity that Newtown supporters have had to take a look at the newest addition to the Jets Rugby League inventory and they would have been impressed as the young Jets took control of the match in the second half.
Newtown had led 22-6 midway through the first half and looked to be set for a runaway win.
The young Blues took the pressure off and the Magpies responded in kind, pulling back to trail 22-16 at halftime and drawing level early in the second half.
The match was very much in the balance for another ten minutes before the class of Jets players in key positions swung the ascendancy back to the Royal Blues.
