Belated Grand Final congrats...

At last... the on-field potential reached the club's off-field standard... epitomised by the reporter! [referring to Glen "Bumper" Dwyer] Congratulations, Glen, and the whole Newtown team, for a fantastic result....what an unbelievable last six weeks! Up the Bluebags!!! John Carmody

Accept my belated congratulations on winning the premiership, very pleased for everyone involved, keep the good work up. Make sure no new players to the club get locked in the gym, we know how scary that can be. All the best, hope you are well. Dennis Yates, a popular club figure who looked after the Newtown gym in recent years

Grand Final congrats continue to trickle in...

Apologies for a very belated massive congratulations to the team, the coaching and support staff for a fantastic win. Not only the GF but the knock out preliminary games were just amazing. Craig Ellis, a member of Newtown's 1981 first grade grand final team.

Four of the Auckland Warriors who played with Newtown in 2000 have been in touch re the Grand Final and all wished the Jets well: Joe Galuvao, Shontayne Hape, Wairangi Koopu and Clinton Toopi.

Joe recalls playing for Wentworthville against Newtown in the 2008 Grand Final; Shontayne remembered playing for Newtown at Redfern Oval (he later on became a Kiwi RL international and then switched to Rugby Union and played for England); and Clinton remembers the words of the Newtown song! Wairangi sent us a congratulatory message about a week ago. He reads the sports news in the Maori language on Maori Television.

A little late, but massive shout out to my old club, the Newtown Jets, for winning the NSW Cup last week. Wairangi Koopu, who played with Newtown in 2000 and then with the Warriors and the Storm

I wish to congratulate the Newtown team and thank them sincerely for the great win - but mainly to let them know what a well mannered group of young men they appear to be. I was greatly impressed by the way they managed the win and the crowd gathered at Petersham on Sunday to congratulate them. I am sure that they will all go far in their chosen sport and make Newtown proud of them in the future. Anne Clarke, daughter of Len Smith, a talented centre who captained Australia and was a key member of the 1943 premiership-winning Bluebags

Grand Final congrats from the Newtown diaspora!

Tried to find the game on a stream so I could watch the Jets win it all but no luck. Its a wasteland over here in the US of college football and NFL on Saturday/Sunday so no luck in picking up the Channel 9 feed. So, I resorted to the 2GB radio broadcast. Felt like the old days of listening to Tiger Black and our Frank Hyde. What an incredible win for the Royal Blue and Whites! Must admit I was on tenterhooks for most of the game as it went back and forth and it seemed like we were losing our grip for most of the second half. But the old fighting spirit prevailed and congratulations to all the players, coaches and officials on being the NSW Cup Champions. Even 10,000 miles away, I feel the pride and excitement. When you think about the trials and tribulations that Newtown has gone through over the years and the efforts of all you to keep the club going, and going so well, it is testament to the battler. At midnight, when the game finished over here I toasted the success. Go you Jets!!! Geoff Mason

I am a Newtown born boy living in North Germany. I have just listen to the game at 4am in the morning on 2GB. So great to see Newtown get up. Wow , Tops. Go JETS Go! Esther Olsen-Velde

Please pass on our congratulations on the team's great win. It was wonderful to see the Jets triumphant today. The Ford Family

Congratulations guys .. Great result. After all this time the mighty Newtown Jets get their Grand Final victory. It was great to see the Blue colors in action on the big day and I'm sure I speak for all ex players in saying the performance of the team made us all feel especially proud. Long live the Newtown Jets. Well done. Enjoy the celebrations!! Phil Gould, Executive General Manager, Panthers Rugby League

TO a great club and all who sail in her ... congratulations on a wonderfully gritty win. It did an old league journo's heart good to see the grand old colours back on the game's centre stage in a performance of such spirit. Enjoy it all!!! Ian Heads

Congrats on Newtowns epic win yesterday. When your boys somehow came from the clouds and beat my beloved Bears a few weeks ago at Leichardt (yep, was there) while I was gutted at losing, I knew there was only one team to follow from there on in, and it was the Bluebags. We had some great tussles this season and that effort was payback for last years semi-final loss when Brett Lane missed the late penalty kick and we went through.

Your club is a great club and epitomises everything fantastic about the NSW Cup, which I believe made quite a few inroads into making people stand up and notice that hey, this is a damn good comp. Those few weekends at Leichardt were a strong indictation of how well supported the comp is becoming, and while only a few diehards like yourself get to all the games, the comp is definitely on the right trajectory.

I also think Newtowns win did a lot for the positive benefits of a feeder club environment and I know it only helps augment our feeder club arrangement with Souths, which I hope stays strong for a long time to come (like yours with The Roosters).

Looking forward to the tussles in 2013 for the Frank Hyde Shield, and I will work on Flo and the boys to sign up Nafe Seluini :) - he is my favourite player in NSW Cup - especially after backing him at 25-1 to be last tryscorer yesterday! Enjoy the celebrations and again well done. I know all the diehard Bears supporters, and just about all were cheering for you guys. I really love our rivalry and long may it continue! Adrian Molloy

Hearty congratulations to all at Henson Park - a championship you all deserve. Was woken up at an ungodly hour with the result and been grinning like an idiot since. The Jets Twitter timeline and the great video links have been fantastic viewing over the last 24 hours. Please pass on my best wishes to everyone. Looking forward to seeing 'the champions' next year. All the very best. Jim Stringer

CONGRATULATIONS! Awesome game, backed up by a brilliant performance by the Newtown Jets. So proud of the boys, hope this Grand Final win opens doors of opportunities for these players, good stuff. Newtown Jets ALL DAY! Blessings, :) Kafoa Hala, Auckland, Saulala Houma's cousin

To the Directors, staff, volunteers, coaches and their staff, to Khalid (what a guy) to all the players, to the dyed in the wool, salt of the earth supporters of the MIGHTY NEWTOWN BLUEBAGS, congratulations on a well-constructed and hard earned PREMIERSHIP WIN. The Final Winter? NEVER! Not while quality people like this are united in the Royal Blue cause. The Kelly Gang (Bill Kelly is Jack's father. Khalid gave his Grand Final medallion to young Jack who is confined to a wheelchair but gets to every home game!

Just wanted to say congratulations - great win, great season! Go the Jets! Micah Franks, David and the rest of the team from Victor Sports

It was wonderful to see the old uniform victorious again - Congratulations - Bumper (Farrell) would have been proud! Ray Bernasconi, a former secretary of the Western Suburbs RLFC

Congratulations to all connected with the mighty Jets, and my thanks for the pleasure the team has given me when following their progress this year. Maggie Alcock

Congrats to the Jets!!!! Andy Caryofyllis, Party Bands

And what a great game it was too. Linz.

Congrats to the entire team, coaches and trainers etc etc etc. Enjoy the year as CHAMPIONS !!! Well done to all. See you next year at Henson. Brett Lyons

Holy Suffering Moses, Bumper and You Little Beauty !!! Frank Hyde would have been smiling down from Heaven at that one, I had my elder brother (born 1943) and his son and me all wearing the Newtown gear down here in Canberra, Bro had the 8,972 shirt on UNDER his Newtown jumper, must have had an impact. Also note the crowd on the day was 82,976 so 8,972 was woven in there as well. We all yelled for joy then cried out "Phew" when the last try was disallowed for the Tigers. Young Daniel Mortimer was great for our team as was Francis Vaiotu, while Bosden, Masoe and Kara were also prominent while the Mighty Mite, number 9 Nafe Seluini was my Man Of The Match with his Cameron Smith style darts from dummy half and great service from the ruck and solid defence. Have a great break, Bumper and let's win it again in 2013 !!! Chris McLenaghan

Hahahaha. I've looked forward to these emails after every game. "Somewhat belatedly" I love that. Thank you all for everything this year . Both on and off the field. James Spiropoulos

Congrats on a great victory. The (Petersham RSL) Club went off when the Jets won. Look forward to catching up in the not too distant future. Albert Talarico, Lisa Steele Rea Estate

Great news to get while I was in India. I am sorry I missed it. Frank Pezzimenti, International Office Manager, ROTARY INTERNATIONAL, South Pacific & Philippines Office

Congratulations, Congratulations, Congratulations! I was so excited watching the game, I think the whole of the Central Coast could hear me screaming - absolutely fantastic!!! I said last week, only that I had a house full over the weekend, I would have gone to watch them, and I mean't that! Congratulations to absolutely everyone involved - magnificent effort by all. Maureen Elsegood, "Bumper" Farrell's daughter and mother of Jack Elsegood

Congratulations. What a wonderful match..all the boys played well and stuck together throughout. All the team must be so proud. Well done. Rachael Meek

Congrats guys. My old dad, may he rest in peace, would be so proud. Steve Gardner, diehard Jets fan

Unfortunately we won't be watching the game live but will keep tabs on progress - good luck and best wishes to all at the Jets, you have a few supporters in Singapore. I am wearing my Jets jumper and hope Belmont St gave you a good send off this morning. Our hearts are at Henson Park! Chris & Sue Boadle

Congratulations to those mighty Bluebags on a wonderful win, great to see so much support for a mighty mighty club as they said on Channel 9. Well done and enjoy a special day, Michael and Robyn Greenwood

Congratulations to all players, coaches, officials and the fans for what is a fantastic finale to the season in winning a much long awaited grand final. The Newtown spirit and will to win has never been more evident during the season but particularly during the finals series where they have come to the fore. I'm sure there will be long and hard celebrations all round for some time to come. Richly deserved. Brian Kirk, son of Tom Kirk, member of the 1943 Premiership-winning team.

Congratulations to all. Mission accomplished. James Andersen

I am in the US on business so couldn't attend the game but listened to each and every play over the web. What a tremendous effort and a great moment for all concerned. I know how proud and emotional I felt when the final hooter sounded but I can only imagine the level of euphoria at the ground. Please pass on my congratulations to your fellow directors, to Greg and his coaching team and especially to the players who despite being behind at one stage in every finals match showed true "Bluebag Spirit" to prevail. This is a famous victory and a proud chapter for a great club. Enjoy the celebrations. Steve Helmich, Director Financial Planning,Advice & Service, AMP Ltd

'' The Bluebags are back" ..in the Winner's Circle. Congratulations to all players , coaching staff and club officials on sending us home so delighted on grand final day. Lawrie & Michael Daly

Despite our own disappointment at another rather flat performance from the Saints, this is a marvellous achievement. Congratulations to everyone...wish I could have seen it! Alex Service

Congratulations on a great win over the weekend and even though I am not really a Bluebags supporter, I still like to see the "old" Rugby league teams do well. Congratulations again on being a great Club & having such a great win. All the best for the future.David Rivett

Just heard of your win. Congratulations from the grandaughter of Dick Townsend who played for you in the early 1900's. Keep up the good work. I live in Toowoomba, Queensland, but still try to hear how you are doing. I'm thrilled to pieces for all of you. Robyn

Great win, blue is the colour. Hope it's the same for Warrington on Saturday. Congrats to all at the club. Alice and Alex Murphy - Alex played in England from 1956 to 1974, captained England and Great Britain on various occasions and later became a successful coach and television commentator

At last... the on-field potential reached the club's off-field standard... epitomised by the reporter! Congratulations Glen and the whole Newtown team for a fantastic result....what an unbelievable last six weeks! Up the Bluebags!!! John Carmody
