Vale Terry Welsh
The Newtown RLFC regrets to advise of the recent passing of Terry Welsh, who played as a hooker with the Newtown Jets in the 1974 season.
Terry played several first grade games for the club, and he was also a member of the Newtown Jets reserve grade team that won the premiership in 1974 under the coaching of Charlie Renilson.
He had represented NSW Country against Sydney in 1972 and 1973, and he also played for NSW Country against New Zealand in 1972.
Terry’s family have mentioned that it was a continued source of great pride to Terry that he had played for the Newtown club.
He had lived in Gunnedah in recent years.
The Newtown RLFC extends sincere sympathy to his family members and wide circle of friends.
Newtown Jets respect and honour the Traditional Custodians of the Land and pay our respects to their Elders past and present. We acknowledge the stories, traditions and living cultures of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples on the lands we meet, gather and play on and that the land area encompassing Henson Park traditionally belonged to the Gadigal people of the Eora nation.
