It’s the last home game of the season this Saturday at Henson Park which doubles as our annual Reunion Day.
Reunion Day is always a special occasion where we welcome past players, officials & supporters to celebrate everything it means to be a Bluebag. This season we’re celebrating the 30th anniversary of our 1995 Metro Cup Premiership winning team which was the first in a three-peat of titles under the guidance of club legend Col Murphy. A good turn out of former players and staff is expected so be sure to go and say hello to the generation of Jets that laid the foundation for the success we have enjoyed since our return to the NSWRL’s top flight competition in 2000, now known as the Knock-On Effect NSW Cup.
It is a fitting celebration, as our 2025 Men All Dressed in Blue are still well & truly in the hunt for Premiership success again this season and the stakes don’t get much higher. Saturday’s game is the decider of the Wilson-Blacklock Cup against NSW’s benchmark club the Penrith Panthers. Newtown currently hold the silverware and won the first leg 26-12 back in Round 1 but this game means more than that. It’s 4 v 5, with the Jets needing to win to keep in touch with third placed Parramatta and the Panthers desperate for the two points to maintain 5th spot ahead of a host teams still in contention for finals. The support of the Bluebags faithful could be the difference this Saturday, so for one last time in 2025, we hope to see you at the real eighth wonder of the world!
Outside of the on-field action, weather permitting, there will be plenty of fun to be had on the DEICORP Family Hill with FREE jumping castles & face painting to keep the kids entertained. Ice Cream Joe’s Mr Whippy & Barista will be in attendance, as will Mr Kernal serving hot dogs, tenders, fries and chips on a stick.
Philter’s Henson Park Draught, XPA and other tasty brews are available for all the Mums, Dads and over 18s along with Kraken & Cola and Kraken & Dry courtesy of Kraken, the exclusive dark spirits partner of the Newtown Jets.
Newtown Jets’ home game raffle is on again featuring a delicious Meat Tray from Dulwich Hill Gourmet Meats along with our famous Fruit & Veg box courtesy of Bobby and Chris Petersen, a case of Henson Park Draught care of Philter and some yummy Jets biscuits thanks to J Kreations. So, as Lynchy always says… ‘Dig deep & support the Jets!’
After the game, the Jets invite members, supporters and friends to the Henson Park Hotel from 5.30pm to mingle with players and coaching staff and hopefully celebrate a victory. The Henson Park Hotel is located at 91 Illawarra Road, Marrickville.
If you cannot make it to Henson Park this Saturday, the game is being livestreamed on BarTV NSWRL.
Go the Jets!
