BLUEBAGS FALL SHORT IN AUCKLAND, EYES NOW ON ALLIANZ
The trip across the Tasman proved a bridge too far for the Newtown Jets as they fell short of securing three consecutive wins for the first time this season. Slow out of the blocks for the second week running, the Warriors jumped to an 18–0 lead after just 14 minutes.
Newtown eventually steadied, crossing twice to head into the break trailing 12–24.
The Bluebags controlled large stretches of the second half but couldn’t convert enough of their opportunities, allowing the home side to hold on for a 30–22 victory. The loss tightens the ladder, with both the Bulldogs and Warriors now sitting just two points behind the fifth-placed Jets.
This Sunday, our Men All Dressed in Blue return to Allianz Stadium for the first time since 2014, facing a Sydney Roosters outfit stinging from a heavy defeat to the Wests Magpies. The Chooks were significantly undermanned last weekend, but with the likely return of most of their NRL State of Origin representatives, they should field far stronger line‑ups across all grades.
The Jets edged the Roosters 33–32 in a thriller back in Round 6 at Henson Park, so all signs point to another cracking contest between two proud foundation clubs.
We’d love to see as many of the Bluebags faithful as possible at Moore Park on Sunday to get behind the boys. Go the Jets.
