BLUEBAGS CHASE THREE STRAIGHT AS THEY FACE THE DEFENDING PREMIERS
Newtown Jets head across the Tasman this weekend buoyant after consecutive home wins over the Sea Eagles and Dragons — the latter arguably their most complete performance since their Round 1 victory over the Panthers.
The Dragons came out breathing fire, racing to a 10–0 lead inside as many minutes. But our Men All Dressed in Blue clawed their way back into the contest, grinding through the middle and striking twice on the stroke of half-time to take an 18–16 lead into the sheds. Their second-half effort was just as convincing, much to the delight of the biggest Henson Park crowd of the season. Full-time: Jets 34, Dragons 22.
This Saturday, the challenge goes up another notch as they face the defending premiers on their home turf. The Warriors, currently sitting 8th, trail the 5th-placed Jets by four points and will be desperate to close the gap. With Luke Metcalf, Luke Hanson, Jett Cleary and Geronimo Doyle steering their spine — and, as always, a monster forward pack — the assignment is as tough as they come.
For Newtown, it’s a chance to make it three wins on the trot for the first time in 2026. It’s big. It’s box office. Go the Jets.
