JETS CHASE FOUR STRAIGHT

Sunday’s 36–12 win over the Dragons at Collegians made it three straight for our Men All Dressed in Blue — our best run of the season — and it sees the Tom Kirk Cup return to Newtown hands.

Now the run home starts, and it starts at the old girl.

The Canberra Raiders come to Henson Park on Saturday sitting 10th, five points outside the top five with three rounds to play. That does not make them easy beats. The Raiders have scored more points than any other side in the KOE NSW Cup this season — 580 of them — and they will back themselves to move the ball against anyone. They arrive having lost their last two and they will be desperate to put that right.

We beat them 34–26 at GIO Stadium back in Round 4, so the boys know exactly what is coming.

The equation is a simple one. Newtown sit 4th on 30 points, level with the Warriors and holding fourth on points differential alone, with the Roosters and Rabbitohs just two points adrift. With three rounds left, every one of them is a four-point game.

There is a full afternoon of footy on offer too, with the Cronulla Sharks meeting the Wenty Magpies in the NSW Women's Premiership at 1pm ahead of our 3pm kick-off. And next Saturday we host the second-placed Bears in our final home game of the season.
