FIERCE LOCAL RIVALS CLASH IN RAYNER-FARRELL BLOCKBUSTER

Finals footy arrives a month early this Saturday at the Jewel in the Crown, as proud foundation-club rivals collide in a momentous DEICORP local derby.

A single glance at the log-jammed KOE NSW Cup ladder tells the story: this is the most important home game of the season so far.

After last Saturday’s results, Newtown briefly slipped to tenth. Twenty-four hours later, a commanding rout of an undermanned Manly Sea Eagles saw our Men All Dressed in Blue surge back to fifth — just two points behind fourth-placed Souths. Remarkably, only two points separate fifth from tenth. With five rounds remaining, everything counts in large amounts.

The Jets snapped a three-game losing streak last weekend, while the Rabbitohs arrive chasing their third straight win. Both sides will field teams stacked with NRL experience, and the prestigious Rayner–Farrell Cup — honouring two giants of each club — is on the line.
