When Singo and Tommy were there to see the Magpies host the Jets …
Your Virtual Season 2020 match for this week is an exciting encounter between Newtown and Western Suburbs, played at Lidcombe Oval on Saturday, 26th May 2018.
The Western Suburbs Magpies rejoined the Intrust Super Premiership NSW competition in 2018, after having last played in the former NSW Cup in 2012. The return of Western Suburbs also meant there could be a resumption of the annual Tom Raudonikis Cup series contested between the two clubs.
As this was the first clash for some years between these two 1908 foundation clubs at Lidcombe Oval, the Mighty Magpies had turned on a special Return to Lidcombe Day for this occasion, with the match also being a Western Suburbs Magpies ex-players reunion. There was a big crowd in attendance, including high-profile rugby league identities John Singleton and Tom Raudonikis.
