BEER FOOTY & FOOD FESTIVAL RETURNS IN 2019 FOR ITS FOURTH YEAR

HENSON PARK – SATURDAY 27th JULY 2019

The Music and Booze Company and the Newtown Jets Rugby League Club have teamed up again to present the 2019 Beer, Footy & Food Festival. Returning to Henson Park the Beer, Footy & Food Festival is a winter ritual for lovers of tasty craft beers, delicious food and the Newtown Jets to embrace the day at historic Henson Park in Marrickville.

Henson Park is one of the few old-school sports grounds remaining in our fast-paced world. Drenched in history, Henson Park has witnessed many historic Jets games and brutal clashes in its 82-year history and is a reminder of a disappearing tradition: a Saturday afternoon sprawled on a blanket with family and friends watching the footy.

After 3 incredibly successful years, the family-friendly event will expand on its 2018 roster and welcome 30 brewers to Henson Park from across Australia. There’s also a plethora of food on offer with 15 local food trucks and businesses setting up shop.

The Beer, Footy & Food Festival is fun for the whole family, with 2019’s festival promising the biggest kid-friendly offering yet, with a giant tiger slide, a mechanical footy, petting zoo, obstacle course, jumping castles, face painters and more. Better yet, kids under 16 get into Henson Park for free!

BEER FOOTY & FOOD FESTIVAL WANTS TO MAKE NEWTOWN JETS’ FOLKLORE A REALITY

During a wet and miserable home game in the ‘90s, Ground Announcer John Lynch made up the day’s attendance figures, solemnly advising punters that the crowd stood at 8,972. The attendance of 8972 has been part of Jets folklore ever since and in 2019 the Beer Food & Footy Festival holds the high hopes of hitting that now-historic number.
