Newtown Jets has named its team for the Intrust Super Premiership NSW Round 9 clash versus North Sydney Bears being played at Henson Park, Saturday 5th May, 1pm kick-off. The match is the first leg of the Frank Hyde Shield for 2018 and is being sponsored by Marrickville Hardcourt Tennis Club.

This Saturday 5th May at 1.00pm, Channel 9’s Wide World of Sports team descends on Henson Park to broadcast our Intrust Super Premiership NSW match v North Sydney Bears.

It is the first free to air TV game at Henson since 1987 and the first featuring the Newtown Jets since 1982.

Please take note that this Jets-Bears match will commence at 1.00pm. Anyone arriving before midday will receive half price entry ($5) and a free Frank Hyde Shield stubby holder (while stocks last).

Glebe-Burwood will play Hills District in a Ron Massey Cup competition match at 3.00pm.

As always, there will be plenty of fun for the kids on the DEICORP Family Hill featuring jumping castles, face painting, pass the ball, Ice Cream Joe’s Mr Whippy & Barista along with JETMAN & SCU More Generous Banking’s Sid The Pig.

Young Henrys NEWTOWNER, Natural Lager & Cloudy Cider are also available for all the Mums, Dads and over 18s.

One of the prestige awards of the night is the Fred Daly Memorial Shield, which is awarded to the player considered to have rendered the most outstanding service to the Newtown RLFC on and off the field. This year's recipient is the Henson Park crowd favourite and powerhouse middle forward Brad "Big Red" Fearnley, flanked by the club President Barry Cotter (left) and the Australian Mutual Bank sponsorship executive and Development Manager Glen Warner (right).
