Newtown Jets Virtual Team List v Mounties Wed 2nd September, 2020

Welcome to Finals Week 1 of Newtown Jets Virtual Season 2020.

While we might not be able to watch Newtown Jets games live this season we can relive past glories from years gone by. As part of Virtual Season 2020, JETS TV is broadcasting classic matches featuring our opponents from the 2020 Canterbury Cup NSW draw in “Amco Cup retro-style” on Wednesday nights at 8.00pm. Our intrepid social media team will “live tweet” the game as if they had entered a time machine and want you to be part of the action.

On Wednesday, 2nd September they head to Campbelltown Stadium to bring you a 2019 Canterbury Cup NSW Elimination Final between Newtown and Mounties that was actually played on Saturday, 7th September, 2019.

After an indifferent start to the season Newtown qualified for the 2019 CCC NSW Finals Series in 7th position, armed with the knowledge that the likes of Ronaldo Mulitalo, Scott Sorensen, Jayson Bukuya, Aaron Gray all of whom had played, in some cases regularly, for Cronulla in the NRL  were eligible to play finals football alongside Jets mainstays Will Kennedy, Jimmy Jolliffe, Billy Magoulias, Braydon Trindall, Daniel Vasquez, Teig Wilton, Jackson Ferries, Matt Evans, Jack A Williams, Siosifa Talakai, Wes Lolo, Luke Polselli, Tyrone Phillips & Greg Eastwood. With Cronulla playing their final game of the regular season that weekend, the team was further strengthened with the addition of Blayke Brailey who himself had played 15 NRL games throughout the year.

The Jets had won their last three games heading into the finals, the last two of which, with the inclusion of powerhouse forward Toby Rudolf. Frustratingly, Rudolf had been sidelined for the entire season after suffering a serious knee injury, in the first half of Redcliffe’s 2018 National Championship loss to the Bulldogs, but his impact for the men all dressed in blue was immediate & significant.

Accordingly, Newtown went into the game quietly confident…

So tune in at 8.00pm, Wednesday, 2nd September to JETS TV www.newtownjets.com or www.facebook.com/newtownrlfc  and follow us on www.twitter.com/newtownrlfc to find out whether that confidence was justified and the Bluebags faithful could dare to dream of another premiership.
