Farewell to one of the Newtown club’s greatest-ever wingers
The Newtown RLFC regrets to announce the recent passing of the former player Kevin Considine.
Kevin Considine was a Canterbury-Bankstown junior product who was graded by the Newtown club in 1951 and then debuted in first grade the following year.
He went on to play 138 first grade games with the Bluebags between 1952 and 1960, as well as 9 first grade games with Parramatta in 1961.
In his first grade career at Newtown he scored 87 tries and kicked 93 goals for a total of 447 points.
He was a member of Newtown’s 1954 and 1955 first grade grand final teams.
Kevin is especially well-remembered for his wonderful combination with fellow Newtown winger Ray Preston when they scored 55 tries between them in the 1954 season.
He later served the Newtown RLFC as a committeeman and was also employed as the secretary-manager of the Newtown Leagues Club.
Kevin proved to be a very popular guest speaker at several club functions in the 21st century.
The Newtown RLFC extends its sincere condolences to Kevin’s wife Louise and his family members.
May he rest in peace.
Newtown Jets respect and honour the Traditional Custodians of the Land and pay our respects to their Elders past and present. We acknowledge the stories, traditions and living cultures of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples on the lands we meet, gather and play on and that the land area encompassing Henson Park traditionally belonged to the Gadigal people of the Eora nation.
