Philter Brewing – Henson Park Draught – Newtown Jets – What A Team!

This week the Newtown RLFC is pleased to pay tribute to one of our newest sponsors, Philter Brewing.
Philter Brewing is located in the heartland of Newtown Jets territory, on the corner of Sydenham Road and Meeks Road, Marrickville.

Philter Brewing entered into a sponsorship with the Newtown Jets earlier this year and launched the epochal Henson Park Draught beer in June 2021.

This draught beer is made with great affection for the mighty Jets and the club’s spiritual home, Henson Park.

It’s crafted with 100% Australian hops for straight-up classic refreshment.

Henson Park Draught is proving very popular both as a tap beer in various inner-western outlets, and as a chilled can especially on the famous Henson Park hill.

The Newtown RLFC is very grateful for the sponsorship support extended to the club by Philter Brewing.

Jets will meet the Canterbury Bulldogs again in 2022.

The Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs have announced they will be fielding a team in the Knock-On Effect NSW Cup for the 2022 season.

The Bulldogs will run their own team in the KOE NSW Cup, as well as continuing their footballing partnership with Mounties.

Canterbury-Bankstown last played against Newtown in the 2019 Canterbury Cup competition.

The 2020 Canterbury Cup was cancelled after only one competition round because of COVID-19.

Mounties were Canterbury’s KOE NSW Cup partnership team in 2021 until the competition was cancelled.

From the Shire to the Wire.
The Warrington Wolves RLFC (formerly known as the Wire) have signed the Cronulla Sharks back-rower Billy Magoulias on a one-year deal, with the option of a further year.
Warrington is one of the best-performed clubs in the UK Super League.

Billy Magoulias commands a special place in Newtown Jets folklore after his match-winning performances in the 2019 Canterbury Cup NSW grand final and the NRL State Championship Final of the same year.

The Newtown RLFC wishes Billy every success with the famous Warrington Wolves.

Jets in the top try-scoring mix.
The NSWRL website has listed its Top Five Tries from the 2021 Knock-On Effect NSW Cup.

Two of the top five tries listed were scored by Newtown winger and Papua-New Guinea international Nene Macdonald.

The Newtown Jets say farewell and thank you to a superb player and popular club identity, Billy Magoulias

One of the prestige awards of the night is the Fred Daly Memorial Shield, which is awarded to the player considered to have rendered the most outstanding service to the Newtown RLFC on and off the field. This year's recipient is the Henson Park crowd favourite and powerhouse middle forward Brad "Big Red" Fearnley, flanked by the club President Barry Cotter (left) and the Australian Mutual Bank sponsorship executive and Development Manager Glen Warner (right). Newtown Jets respect and honour the Traditional Custodians of the Land and pay our respects to their Elders past and present. We acknowledge the stories, traditions and living cultures of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples on the lands we meet, gather and play on and that the land area encompassing Henson Park traditionally belonged to the Gadigal people of the Eora nation.
